Just because the library building is closed, that doesn’t mean NCPL staff isn’t still hard at work. Just this past Friday, I bought 65 new ebooks and e-audiobooks for the Ohio Digital Library (which you might use on the Libby or OverDrive app). And as long as the library is closed and you can’t pick up physical items, we will be buying more electronic items so that you can still enjoy the library from home.

When I was searching for what to buy, the first thing I did was check to see what books patrons have requested. On the ODL website when you search for a book or author, at the bottom of the page, you see books that ODL doesn’t own but could buy. If there is one there you’re interested in, you can click RECOMMEND, and if I can, I will try to pick up a copy. (I don’t have enough money to buy everything recommended, and a lot of items are already available through our other ebook service, Hoopla.)

I’m also buying extra copies of books with long holds lists and looking for deals, as some publishers are being great and offering books at reduced prices. As long as we’re closed, we will be buying additional ebooks, as will many other Ohio Digital Library partners, including the State Library, which is working diligently to get more copies of books that unlimited numbers of patrons can have at the same time.

So keep an eye out for new books at the Ohio Digital Library. We’re adding great new stuff all the time!
