Did Happy Days ever Jump the Shark? Well, Fonzie literally did in one of TV’s most infamous episodes, but if the show ever Jumped the Shark in the sense that after that episode it was never as good again, our #LibraryMadness voters aren’t interested in hearing about it.
In #LibraryMadness history, our top seeds tend to do well. Our first year, there was a single first round upset when Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton took out the top-rated Nonfiction book, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood. But last year when you picked your favorite movie, all 4 top seeds made it through the first 2 rounds, and 3 of them won their Division.
Not so much this year.
The top seeds in for the Battle of TV Shows are: Schitt’s Creek, This Is Us, Downton Abbey, and Seinfeld. But I’m sorry Jerry, Elaine, Kramer, and George. No Round 2 soup for you. The voters prefer the Fonz.
But don’t feel bad, Seinfeld fans. Downton Abbey also failed to get out of the first round, thanks to CSI. I don’t think the Dowager Countess is very happy.
So as you look at the Round 2 ballot, you are likely going to be surprised by some of the matchups. But that’s why it’s so important to vote! You can leave your votes here in the comments of the blog. Or you can tag us on social media. (@NCantonLibrary on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) Or pop in the library and get a paper ballot at the Reference Desk. Voting for Round 2 ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10.
