Adult and Teen Librarian, Elizabeth, shares more information about listening to audiobooks with Libby or Hoopla

A book I just finished on our library app, Libby, was Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich with Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul. Dear Evan Hansen was first created as a musical and is a Tony Award Best Musical Winner.

Some of the teens that frequently hangout in the library talk about this book, so I knew I had to jump on board and finally read it. Sometimes I like to check out the physical book as well and look through it while I listen. In the beginning of the book, the authors express that whether you are a fan of the musical, soundtrack, online videos, or a complete newbie to Evan Hansen, this is a book that will make you think, feel, and connect. After finishing it, I agree! This book deals with some intense issues such as suicide, depression, anxiety, and grief. However, you learn from this book that no one is ever alone. This would be a good book to listen to or read with your family, because it would allow you to discuss some tough topics safely.

I loved the narration of this audiobook because it was so realistic. The narration really matched how I thought the characters would speak. So if you have never tried an audiobook, I recommend it! Here are some step-by-step instructions to get you set up with Libby!

Hoopla also offers a huge selection of audiobooks you can listen to. We have a great step by step guide to get started with Hoopla too. Between Libby and Hoopla, there are so many free audiobooks available to you!
