Hello everyone. My name is Nate Moran and I am teaching the how-to stream services on your devices class at this year’s North Canton Public Library How-to Festival.

I’m actually teaching a few classes this year, but this class seemed to be pretty large last year and generated a lot of interest. I think part of the reason for the interest is the amount of fragmentation in the tech world. This type of “clutter” of products and options sort of waxes and wanes between a lot of new things happening, and then complete lulls sometimes as it seems like there is nothing new or innovative and ideas are just being recycled and rebranded.

What I think companies are often failing to realize is that this “clutter” or fragmentation as people in the tech industry refer to it, confuses consumers. Consumer confusion leads to people wanting to know about how to use and access technology, which in turn is great, because that’s what I am here to help with. 🙂

Having options is never really a bad thing, but it can feel like an overwhelming thing when fear of BETTER options takes over, or someone who has something that may work differently talks to you about what they do. When looking at approaching any area of technology and applications to learn it, there is one thing that I always tell people to remember, and that is this: “these devices and applications were made BY PEOPLE just like you, FOR PEOPLE just like you, for your convenience.”

So what I hope you can take away from the streaming class this year is not to be intimidated by new approaches to learning about new tech, and also a firm grasp on how to get the best out of your entertainment at home.

Hope to see you in class!
