So far, the response to Summer Reading has been fantastic! We’re well on our way to reaching our community reading goal of 500,000 minutes read, and the last I looked, we were right around 800 people registered. Considering everything is different this year, and all online, we’re thrilled with the response. Really, we’ve always loved our patrons, but you’re really blowing us away this summer.
And this is why we want to make sure you know that a big part of how you earn chances to win Summer Reading prizes this year is by completing Activities. Once you’ve signed up with Beanstack, you earn chances to win prizes by logging the minutes you spend reading, but also by the Activities you complete. For both Adults and Teens, one of those Activities are our book clubs.
The two Adult book clubs happening this summer are both meeting on Goodreads and Zoom. The Classic Lit group meets the third Wednesday of the month (so that’s next week!) and the new Book to Film Group meets on Zoom the last Thursday of the month. They are both also available for discussion anytime on our Goodreads Group. Here’s the Group and here’s a video if you need help using the Group. If you want to join us on Zoom, be sure to sign up on the Calendar, so we can send you a link. So, join us on Goodreads or Zoom, and you can check off the Book Club Activity on your way to earning your Programming Badge. And that Badge, gets you an entry to win your choice of one of six different gift cards!
The Teen Virtual Book Club is entirely on the Goodreads Group. Join the group and start talking about the graphic novel Marvel Runaways Vol 1: Pride & Joy right now. But there will also specifically be a time to meet to talk about this book next week on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. in the Goodreads Group. Future titles are The Hunger Games (the original!) and One of Us Is Next. And like with the Adults, if you join the discussion on Goodreads, Teens will be able to check off the Goodreads book club Activity on their Library Things Badge, which gets them one step closer to earning a chance to win gift cards, Air Pods, and more!
